Untethered is a brilliant new space survival sandbox style game that comes to us from the mind of Luna Verratti, the founder and solo developer from True Anomaly Entertainment.
Your role in Untethered has you stepping into the flight suit of a crew member belonging to the Research Station "Endeavour" in high orbit around Saturn, directly following a catastrophic accident that has seemingly left you as the space station's sole survivor. Stranded and alone with finite resources at your disposal, it's your goal to scavenge supplies, upgrade your equipment and rebuild your base of operations so that you may survive the vast emptiness of space.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Luna at PAX Aus 2024, where Untethered was being shown off as part of the Aus Indie Showcase. I've also taken the chance to download and play the demo of Untethered, currently available on steam, and loved every moment of it. From the sheer panic set off from the hull breach alarms, down to the simple understanding that I must survive, and my survival relies upon sheer will and determination. Untethered is looking to move into early access in early 2025 and gradually release more content in the following Months/Years. What more can I say about Untethered than I love it, with seemingly limitless customization possibilities of your base, known as "The Tug" along with plenty of new features to come; such as mining asteroids for additional resources, setting up farming modules to grow crops and expand your Rations beyond just plain old canned tuna, plus greater customization of your home among the stars.
I personally can't wait to sit down, strap in and take to the stars to experience more of this fascinating indie title.
